This text aims to conclude and sort out the study of Taoism by Zhang Dai'nian comprehensively and systematically.Then the author divides the study career of Zhang Dai'nian into several periods and summarizes their features and main contents respectively.The full text can be separated into four parts:the first part generalizes and narrates the academic background about Zhang Dai'nian's study of Taoism,discusses and analyzes contents and features related to his study of Taoism before 1955;The second part focuses on the logic transformation of Taoism research methods and research characteristics,and then mainly sorts out the his studies about which he used dialectical materialism and historical materialism to research life theory,cosmology and other theories of Laotzu and Chuangtzu from 1955 to 1989.All this is marked by Zhang Dai'nian starting his lecture on the history of Chinese philosophy at Peking University in 1955,combined with changes in his Taoism view.The third part elaborates the efforts and contributions that Zhang Dai'nian made to realize the integration and innovation of Chinese,Western and Marxist philosophy,and to refine and promote the outstanding contents of Taoism.All this is in the background where domestic situation changed dramatically after the 1990s,and the construction of a socialist material civilization and spiritual civilization with Chinese characteristics became the new historical mission.The fourth part discusses about the theoretical contributions and limitations of Zhang Dai'nian's Taoism study.After that the author expresses his own opinions on the research methods of Chinese philosophy history and new advances of Chinese philosophy.
