A Study Of Zhang Yu’s Nian Xia Qv

Nian Xia Qv is a series of poems composed by Zhang Yu,a litterateur in the Yuan dynasty.He wrote about what he heard and saw when he lived in the capital in his early years,and deliberately compiled it later.There are 131 poems in total.This paper researched it is divided into three parts:The first part is to explore the scope and writing situation of Nian Xia Qv.Its formation,at the author level,it not only benefited from Zhang Yu paying attention everywhere and always writing when he visit capital in early time,but also from his intentional arrangement of manuscripts;at the social environment level,the writing of Nian Xia Qv is closely related to the political system of visiting the two capitals during the Yuan dynasty,the tolerant attitude of the royal family towards the writing of Palace Poems,and the political dilemma of the Southern People;at the cultural environment level,the impetus of Zhang Yu’s creation of Nian Xia Qv was also closely related to the trend of the creation of Shangjing Travel Poems and Palace Poems at that time.The second part is the style and features of the Capital of the Yuan dynasty shown in the Nian Xia Qv.The capital scene presented by Zhang Yu can be divided into the depiction of political situation of the parallel Mongolian and the central plains,the presentation of diverse cultures and the image of people and things in accordance with their own customs.It is not only written in a large part,but also filled with details,presenting a solemn,rich,diversified and vibrant capital image of the Yuan dynasty.The third part is the artistic features of Nian Xia Qv brought by Zhang Yu’s writing purpose.From the preface he wrote,it can be seen that his pursuit of creation is to tell the truth according to the matter,concise language,learning from the Book of Songs to record the style of the generation tradition.This has become the writing characteristics of two aspects of Nian Xia Qv: One is that Zhang Yu objectively and neutral to capital situation "according to the facts",focusing on the direct and true depiction of things without distortion;Second,the poem accurately presents the "style of the generation" in an all-round way.It presents the style of the Yuan dynasty in a comprehensive and three-dimensional way through the extensive description of various historical stages and classes of the Yuan dynasty.It also uses a lot of details such as numbers,location words and sequence flow to make the reflection of the social reality more knowledgeable.Therefore,with its objective and rigorous brushwork and strong knowledge density,Nian Xia Qv fully presents the capital,and had become one of the representative literary works in the capital literature of the Yuan dynasty.
