The Arias Analysis And Interpretation Of The Heroine Della In Musical "The Gift Of Magi"

The music is the soul of a musical,and the singing of character is an important part of it.For musical audience,the actors' performance on stage is not intended to sing for the sake of singing but a natural way of communication.It means that the voice and the performance object should keep accordance to the script,the character and the logic of the characters'behaviors.As both an actor and a vocal guidance,the writer has taken part in rehearsal and performance of a Chinese original musical named "The Gift of the Magi".And this practice allowed me to accumulate valuable experiences and materials about the interpretation of the heroine "Della".In this thesis,the writer focused on two musical arias,"One Dollar and Eighty-seven Cents" and "I Want to Tell Him",to study based on the interview with the director and composer and applied to the case analysis of the interpretation and singing technology,aiming to provide methods and suggestions for.the musical actors to perform in Chinese original musical arias.
