After the division of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms,the Northern Song Dynasty was another period of great integration in Chinese history.The Song Dynasty has embarked upon the development of the concentration of wen.The road,irrespective of social influences,is undoubtedly an opportunity for great prosperity for the arts.In addition to the construction of the painting and painting institute,the government built the imperial examinations since the Song Dynasty and the selection of painters by the example of the imperial examination system.Ouyang Xiu and others focused on the poems and literature reform movement of Inner St.,and ChengHao,ChengYi and ZhuXi,and other ginseng’s psychiatric system of the spirit of Taoism matured.All of this contributed to the great prosperity of the Northern Song Dynasty’s flower and bird paintings represented by the “Xuanhe Style”—a pattern of flower-and-bird paintings that vividly convey the spirit of nature by means of a very rationalistic approach to materials and poetic feelings.In the historical evolution of Chinese painting,the dual opposition of “form” and “spirit” appeared very early.The dualistic opposition is not either one of the other,but is inclusive and interacting with one another.Infectious viewers,GuKaizhi’s "express the Spirit in form" can be said to be extremely accurate.With the development of history,painting has gradually liberated itself from the themes of historical facts and Taoist interpretations advocated for political enlightenment.Landscapes paintings,flowers and birds paintings have also become independent subjects.With the idea of "express Spirit in form",it gradually emerged from the drawing of characters and developed into the universal principle of painting portrait of people,landscapes paintings,and birds and flowers paintings.Concepts such as "Xiezhen" and "Xiemao" were at least in the post of YanCong`s<Huohualu> has developed into a familiar "Xiesheng" today.This concept was widely used at least in the Song Dynasty.The appearance of "Xiesheng ZhaoChang" indicates that the "Xiesheng" was specifically referring to flowers and birds paintings.In the subsequent historical evolution,especially after the opening of the country,Xu Beihong and others introduced the Chinese Western academy system.The “Xiesheng” has changed from a creative method to a training method of styling ability.Many misunderstandings have also resulted from this.This article intends to discuss the "Xiesheng" of the flower and bird paintings of the courtyard during the Northern Song Dynasty from the perspective of nature,the expression of pictures,and the penetration of sentimental thoughts.It is based on the Chinese traditional view of nature and finds its politeness between sense and sensibility.The spiritual connotation of positioning,this spiritual connotation in the contemporary era is particularly significant in terms of remedy.
