With the continuous deepening of college English teaching reform,higher requirements for students' English writing ability are put forward.For quite some time,students have lost interests in the traditional writing teaching model,and the traditional writing teaching model has been difficult to meet the writing needs of students.Therefore,according to the status quo of English writing teaching,the researcher applies Relevance Theory into English writing teaching and guides the English writing teaching with the help of Pigai.Org.The thesis intends that this method can promote students' interests in English writing and improve students' English writing ability.The purpose of this study is to verify whether Relevance Theory has an impact on college students' English writing ability in English writing teaching among non-English majors and is committed to solving three questions: 1)Will the application of Relevance Theory have positive effects on English writing and improve students' English writing achievements? 2)To what extent can the application of Relevance Theory and Pigai.Org improve students' English writing ability in the aspects of the accuracy of vocabulary and phrases,discourse coherence and sentence structures? 3)Will the combination of Relevance Theory with Pigai.Org change students' English writing attitudes and improve writing situation?The number of participants of this research is 76.They are all from non-English majors of two parallel classes in Shenyang Normal University.The English ability of the two classes is equal.The Experimental Class(EC)used Relevance Theory to guide the English writing,while the Control Class(CC)adopted the traditional English writing teaching to teach writing.This research uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.This research involves five steps.And this process will be implemented within 15 weeks with the help of Pigai.Org.The research instruments are questionnaire,English writing tests and interviews.This research will collect,analyze and compare the data generally which are from the questionnaire and the writing tests by adopting SPSS 16.0.The results show the following conclusions: 1)After the experiment,Relevance Theory has a positive impact on English writing and has improved the writing achievements in EC.2)After the experiment,compared with CC,students in EC have made great and significant progress on writing achievements from the aspects of the accuracy of vocabulary and phrases,discourse coherence and sentence structures.The words are more appropriate with topic content,the use of conjunctions is more proficient and accurate,and the sentence structures can be abundant and accurate enough to express the writing intention.3)In EC,students' writing attitudes are more positive and they prefer to use Pigai.Org to write generally,and the writing situation gets a significant improvement.In this research,Relevance Theory can enrich English writing teaching,change the current situation of English writing and improve students' writing ability.Pigai.Org stimulates students' interests in writing and thus it should be applied widely in English writing teaching.
