This article, through literature, empirical, and documentary research methods, combined with the background culture of black African masks, categorized and analyzed the form and language style of mask carving, and interpreted it on the basis of cubist works of art in order to confirm the masks of black Africans. The element is the ideological source of cubism sculpture. The cubist artists used the linguistic characteristics of black African art to draw inspiration from their creation. Why black African mask art can influence the formation of Cubist style? The black African mask itself has its own artistic language features and has a completely different expression form than the rules of Western traditional art. This is the main argument of this article. The first chapter of the thesis first gives a brief overview of the history and culture of Black Africa, clarifies the cultural background of the black African masks, and traces the origin of the modeling elements in Cubism. The second chapter classifies the black African masks from the perspective of the modeling language. In terms of the depth of the mask,it is divided into a plane mask,an embossed mask, and a three-dimensional mask.Starting from these three perspectives,we analyze the common manifestations in the black African masks. The third chapter,in the context of cubism, contrasts the black African mask with the Western traditional art norms, and proves that there is a commonality between its establishment and cubism.Take Cubism sculpture as an example to prove the practicality of black African mask elements in Cubism. The final conclusions, through an overview, put forward arguments, combined with the case demonstration of Cubist sculpture,to prove the shape elements of the black African mask, and influence the language formation of Cubist sculpture forms.
