Dun Tan is one of the most active Chinese composers in international music scene.His productions involve a wide range of fields,have varied styles and have profound cultural connotations.In Dun's work,it's not difficult to find that he integrates Chinese traditional folk music,Western classical music and modern composition techniques.This is a piano suite that blends Chinese and Western cultures and integrates ancient and modern.The set was written in 1978,when Dun just entered Central Conservatory of Music and in his early stage of composition.Therefore,the set is the beginning of a series of Dun's works and has profound value of research.We can understand the composer's idea and his development direction by studying this work.The thesis focuses on the composition techniques of this set.It starts with the analysis of composition background,musical noumenon and quoted folk music,then explores the connotation and the inspiration it can give me.The thesis provides in-depth analysis of the set,extracts the essence and can be used for learning purpose.
