"Eight Memories In Watercolor" is one of a Piano Suite which integrates folk music and modern technical skill.The Suite is TanDun's music when he studyed at the Cengtral Music College in 1978,and in this period Tan Dun entered into the field of of creative professionals.This Suite can be regarded as the creative works of lots of Tan Dun's works,at the same time it provided a concrete evidence from which we can understand the creative features of the Chinese composers.The creation characterizes of this suite is this paper's study,and the paper focused on The traditional musical elements and the noumenon form.The traditional musical elements of the work involes the neutral phenomenon in the Flower Drum Opera's tune with which the chromatic relation compared and the folk of instrumental music,and so on.Tan Dun usually put the complete lines of melody into the fragment of melody which belongs to different tonalities when he processings the tonality of national pentatonic melody,then the cycle of the tonality expands continuously in the period of the conversion process which is frequently and fragmental,all of these result the tonality overlap,waver,and generalization.He stressed the harmonic's color greatly from the from the diversification of the type of chord progression and the independent use of the dissonance chord in the harmonic fluctuation,when processiong the harmonic.
