Jiao Xun's Thought Of Creativity In I-Ching Study

By analyzing its history,we concluded three reasons for its prosperity and two for its declination.Figuring out these questions will help us to get a clearer look at the Pre-Qin histoy.Jiao Xun,one of the three scholars studying I-Ching of Han in Qing dynasty,established a unique set of I-Ching structures and a system of moral philosophy in his decades of I-Ching study.This paper will focus on the critical path which from interpretation of set of I-Ching structures to moral philosophy,fully analyze Jiao Xun's thought of creativity in I-Ching study.The first part mainly discussed historical background of Jiao Xun's thought.The revival of Han school in classical philology and the textology made his solid learning strength in studying I-Ching of Han.The introduction of western mathematical works made him started paying attention to mathematics and absorbed the essence of Chinese and western mathematics thought.The secend part mainly discussed the set of I-Ching structures with the methodology based on the text.Jiao Xun proposed three principles which is Pangtong,Xiangcuo,Shixing Explain the changes of the hexagrams and the images of lines.Pangtong was the core,Xiangcuo was the supplement,Shixing was the overall process of the first two.The third part mainly discussed the thought of creativity in I-Ching study.The mathematical basis of the thought was deducing Number of heaven and earth and Dayan numbers,the main part was movement of Yuan Heng Li Zhen.The fourth part mainly discussed the moral philosophy of 'change one's evil ways and reform'.The foundation of `change one's evil ways and reform' was the theory of original goodness of human nature.Repentance could turn calamities into blessings,bending the rules could reform,making a clear distinction between right and wrong could guide corrective action,sage' teaching could make people lost on the way get the correct way.
