Writing strategy is a kind of learning strategy and is actions or methods that learners take consciously.Researches show that using English writing strategies helps improve students' English writing ability.The study of writing strategies in China started a little late.There is no systematic and authoritative theory and there are comparatively less researches on senior high school students' writing strategies yet.The first-year senior high school students from Huaibei No.4 High School were taken as the research objects,and their overall situation of using writing strategies were investigated,hoping to provide for reference for subsequent research.Referring to Oxford's Strategy Inventory for Language Learning,domestic scholar Liu Zhiqun's(2006)writing strategy classification,and Chen Lingyun's(2009)writing strategy questionnaire,combining the view of knowledge,of learning and of evaluation from constructivism,then a questionnaire was made for senior high school students in Huaibei No.4 Middle School after making certain changes.260 high school students were surveyed and 9 students interviewed in this paper.The results of questionnaire and interview were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 software and Excel software.The contents of the questionnaire included(1)the difference in the use of writing strategies between different genders,(2)the correlation between writing strategies and writing performance,(3)the difference in the use of writing strategies between students with different writing performance.The objective by interviewing is to further understand the students' view of writing strategies and their existed problems.The results of this study show that(1)the overall situation of the first-year senior high school students using writing strategies is not frequently used,(2)boys and girls do differentiate in using writing strategies,(3)there is a correlation between writing strategies and writing performance,(4)students with high writing score,medium score,and low score do differentiate when using writing strategies.
