English reading,as a way of students' knowledge acquisition and language learning,plays an important position in high school English teaching.The 2017 “Ordinary High School English Curriculum Standard” indicates that English teaching should develop students' key competence which includes language ability,cultural awareness,quality of thinking and learning ability.Therefore,the teaching of English reading is not only to let students get the knowledge of language and culture,but also to develop their thinking and creative abilities.However,there are still some shortcomings in English reading teaching in senior high school.The traditional English reading teaching is teacher-centered which imparts the language knowledge only.In this way,students' interest in English learning is difficult to arouse.And it emphases on linguistic knowledge learning but neglects the cultivation of students' learning ability and thinking ability.At the same time,the use of mind map can effectively cultivate students' thinking ability and creative ability.In addition,mind map is a good reading method which helps students understand and memorize the text deeply.At last,using mind map in English reading teaching promotes students' communication and cooperation that promotes students' reading effectiveness.In order to find out the effects of mind map in English reading teaching,the author,as a student teacher,did a research about these four aspects: the current situation of teachers' use of mind map in English reading teaching,students' attitudes toward the use of mind map in English reading class,the effects of the use of mind map on students' English reading ability and the problems of the use of mind map in English reading class.The participants of this study are 89 students and 12 teachers in Longquan middle school.It takes questionnaire,interview to find out the application and the effects of mind map in senior one English reading teaching.At last,the author finds that most of the teachers use the mind map in class.At the same time,the author also finds that the use of mind map in English reading class can not only arouse students' curiosity and learning interest,but also promotes a large proportion of students' reading ability.Furthermore,the use of mind map expands most of students' thinking and imagination.Though there are some unavoidable problems when teachers use the mind map in English class,teachers need to overcome these difficulties in practice and give students better presentation in class.
