The relationship between Vietnam and Champa is one of the most important external relations in ancient Vietnam, and the relationship during the period from 979 to 1471 is an important stage. This article mainly studies the relationship between Vietnam and Champ in this period from two aspects: politics and culture. Before the independence of Vietnam,Champa had a border with China. As a result, the two countries had been fighting frequently. At the same time, there is a period of peaceful exchanges between the two countries. After the independence of Vietnam,it not only inherited the geographical position of China and Champa, but also inherited the relationship between the two countries. The confrontation bteween Vietnam and Champa could be divided into two stages. From Vietnamese people retrieving their independence to the death of Che Bong Nga,who was a heroic king of Champa and led his army to attack Vietnam frequently, the relative balance of power between the two countries was stable.Although Vietnamese army often defeated and captured the king of Champ, the people of Champa also constantly entered Vietnamese territory to raid and plunder. After Che Bong Nga dying, the balance of power balance between the two countries gradually collapsed, and Vietnam established the absolute advantage over Champa. The march to the south has finally become an irreversible process.War is one of important channels of cultural exchange.During the process of the march to the south,Vitenam was constantly absorbing the people of Champa and the culture of Champa, which became the important factors of the formation and development of Vietnamese culture. In the process of the march to the south,Vietnam absorbed the culture of Champa, which promoted the integration of east Asian culture and southeast Asian culture and enriched the Vietnamese culture. At the same time, the territory of Vietnam has been greatly expanded and its national strength has been greatly enhanced.Local forces have been united under the banner of the march to the south, which has strengthened national cohesion and promoted the formation of Vietnamese national culture.
