A Comparative Study Of Shen Congwen And Theodor Storm's Poetic Novels

Shen Congwen and Theodor Strom both showed some poetic tendencies in their novels.On the one hand,they both wrote poems,and on the other hand,they were influenced by the literary environment at that time.Shen Congwen wrote some old poems in his early years.Later,he was not satisfied with writing poems,so he turned to the creation of novels.He was also a lyricist in his early years,and he said his novels were an extension of his lyrics.The reason why they are put together for research is that they are both dedicated to the depiction of their hometown.They are good at describing the natural scenery and placing the characters in the nature.They are good at using natural scenery to show the characters and their fate.Part of Shen Congwen's novels are not in the plot,also does not pay attention to depict the character image,but the interception of the fragments of life,to describe some phenomenon,he doesn't speak some truth,but let the reader in the description of these impressions type life taste.Theodor Storm some early novels does not pay attention to the plot,rather than on the plot of the novel logic,and as his novels is the emotional logic.His early novels did not focus on characterizing characters,but tended to show their emotions.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part is to compare the two writers by integrating the novel into the poetic features and the changes of the three elements of the novel.Lyrical intervention,make the novel unique characteristics,in the form of such as plot,character,environmental factors,such as changed,performance in the plot,character simplification,the effect of natural changes in these aspects.The second part is about poetic language.The poetic language of the novel brings the poetic language.Shen Congwen's novels have a classical charm.Some folk songs and poems are used to make the novel more poetic.Their novels use a lot of images,which enlarge the aesthetic space.The third part is about the difference of lyric reasons between them.Lyric is an important feature of Shen Congwen and Theodor Storm's novels.Shen Congwen's poetic novels are influenced by Chinese traditional lyric culture,and his childhood experience has given him different understandings and choices of traditional culture.Theodor Storm of poetic novels because of his status as a lyricist,the second is he the influence of social environment,it was German poetic realism development period,the concept of it is to avoid major social and political themes,see from the real life of the ordinary and poetical moment.This paper uses the method of parallel research to discover the characteristics of the two writers in the creation of poetic novels.
