Shen congwen is a writer with the temperament of a poet.He always likes to write his works with a lyrical tone, and the description of "water" is always indispensable in both the natural lyrical works of the 1930 s and the abstract lyrical works of the 1940 s."Water" is not only a beautiful display of the background of the life of the characters in the works, but also contains shen congwen's rich inner feelings and his eyes on the world. Therefore, this paper attempts to understand and analyze the origin and correlation of "water" and lyric in shen congwen's works,so as to better enter shen congwen's inner world and have a more comprehensive understanding of shen congwen and his literary world. This paper is divided into three chapters to discuss:The first chapter mainly analyzes the writing origin of "water" and lyricism in Shen Congwen's works by combining the growing environment of the writer, the characteristics of his own personality and temperament, and the tradition of lyricism in Chinese history. The second chapter mainly explores the relationship between "water" and shen congwen's "natural" lyric. From the three aspects of "water" and "nature","water" and life,"water" and melancholy, this paper discusses how shen congwen constructs a poetic and pictorial "water" world in Xiangxi, and freely expresses his rich inner feelings through "water" in a natural lyrical way.The first section mainly discusses shen congwen's poetic vision of integrating the natural scenery in the "water" world in Xiangxi with the plain natural humanity, creating a harmonious and beautiful artistic conception of "water".The second section is mainly displayed through the sparkling artistic space of "water" in Xiangxi.Taking care of life on the side of "water" in Xiangxi, poetic writing of life strength coincided with nature. The third section is to explore the melancholy and sorrowful feelings implied by the author behind the delicate words of "water".The third chapter is the transformation from natural lyricism to abstract lyricism, which mainly starts with the change of Shen Congwen's writing of "water" discourse, and expounds how Shen Congwen has gone from a talented writer to the collapse ofspirit and the autistic closure of creation. Then how to get rid of the mental madness to achieve self-transcendence,and finally to the emotional process of tranquility and transcendence. The first section discusses the reasons for the change of Shen Congwen's lyric style from the point of view of "water".The long urban life makes Shen Congwen almost physically separated from the "water" he is familiar with, and the gap between Shen Congwen and Xiangxi is deepening day by day. This makes Shen Congwen, who is good at writing articles on water, more powerless and naturally lyric. The style encountered insurmountable obstacles and had to turn to abstract lyricism. The second section mainly discusses that Shen Congwen not only consciously used the physical properties of "water" such as "cloud","rain","fog" and "sea" in the 1940 s,but also penetrated the color and light and shadow of "water" into the text.It conveys the abstract lyricism and philosophical speculation of life, and at the same time, through "water",it also states the anguish and spiritual struggle in the abstract state of mind. The third section discusses Shen Congwen's constant exploration in the predicament, especially in the contact of landscapes and scenery after the founding of the People's Republic,Shen Congwen saw his familiar "water" again, and enlightened him in the "water",helping him overcome the real predicament, gradually from the spiritual collapse to the inner detachment and calmness, and in the hustle and bustle of the times,he maintained his inner feelings towards "sentiment" pursuit.
