The Influence Of Coding Strategy And Cues Distinctiveness On Prospective Memory In Different Ego Depletion

By taking 240 undergraduates as the research subject and adopting the research method of experimentation,this paper investigated the influence of coding strategy and cues distinctiveness on prospective memory in different ego depletion.This study is divided into two parts: in the first part,the 2(degree of ego depletion: high and low depletion group)×2(coding strategy: implementation intention and retrieval practice)mixed experimental design was adopted to discuss the influence of the coding strategy to the prospective memory in different ego depletion;based on the first research and by adopting the 2(cues distinctiveness: different and undifferentiated)×2(coding strategy: implementation intention and retrieval practice)×2(degree of ego depletion: high and low depletion group)mixed experimental design,the second part further discussed the influence of the coding strategy to the prospective memory of different ego depletion under the condition of different target cues.The following conclusions are obtained through two studies in this paper.First,the levels of different ego depletion have no difference in the accuracy of subjects when doing the prospective memory tasks and ongoing tasks,while the reflections of the prospective memory tasks and ongoing tasks are remarkable.Second,the two coding strategies in different ego depletion have different effects on the prospective memory,and the difference of two coding strategies is not obvious under the condition of low ego depletion.While the retrieval practice coding strategy obviously plays a better role than the implementation intention coding strategy under the condition of high ego depletion.Third,compared with the retrieval practice coding strategy,the implementation intention coding strategy is much more easily influenced by the level of ego depletion.Fourth,under the condition of different target cues,the accuracy and reflection of the prospective memory tasks are remarkably promoted by the two coding strategies,while the effect of the two coding strategies exist no obvious difference in the accuracy of the prospective memory tasks of the objects of different ego depletion.Fifth,under the condition of different target cues,the accuracy of the ongoing tasks of the objects of different ego depletion do not change obviously,while the reflections of the objects in the low depletion group are obviously faster than that in the high depletion group when doing ongoing tasks.Sixth,compared with the retrieval practice coding strategy,the implementation intention coding strategy gets better performance under the condition of different target cues and the effect of the two coding strategy are equal.
