The Effect Of Subliminal Monetary Reward Information On Conscious And Unconscious Response Inhibition

In recent years,subliminal reward and the executive control function induced by unintentional stimulation have become two hot topics.As one of the important components of executive control function,response inhibition is also widely concerned by researchers.More and more evidence suggests that subliminal rewards can affect individual cognitive behavior,and reward effects can be extended to unconscious cognitive domains.However,in the context of such research,there is relatively little research on the combination of consciousness,reward and response inhibition,which is worthy of empirical supplement in future research.A small number of studies have divided the results.Previous studies on the effects of supraliminal rewards agree that supraliminal rewards can promote the inhibition of conscious and unconscious responses.But there are differences in the impact of subliminal rewards.Some studies suggest that subliminal rewards have no effect on both response inhibition,while others suggest that subliminal rewards can only affect the conscious response inhibition.Researchers believe subliminal reward in the process of experiment rendering time too short may affect individual call resources of unconscious response inhibition reaction,the adjustment of time may cause changes in the experimental results.Integrated predecessors' research results,this study thinks that it is necessary to further explore the subliminal rewards to the conscious and unconscious response inhibition effect,and to investigate the change of incentive subliminal rendering time can make subliminal reward of unconscious response inhibition effect.Based on the previous experimental paradigm,this study used three experiments to study the effects of subliminal reward on two kinds of inhibition.In experiment 1,the modified mask go/no-go paradigm was used to verify the existence of unconscious response inhibition.The results showed that unconscious stimulation could induce response inhibition.In experiment 2,the effects of subliminal rewards on the inhibition of conscious and unconscious responses were investigated under the condition of 17 ms reward stimulus presentation by combining the reward initiation paradigm and masked go/no-go paradigm.In experiment 3,the presentation time of rewards stimulus was changed to 34 milliseconds.The experiment procedure of experiment 2 was repeated to explore the effect of subliminal rewards on the inhibition of conscious and unconscious responses under the presentation condition of 34 ms reward stimulus.The results ofexperiment 2 and experiment 3 show that subliminal rewards can affect the inhibition of conscious response,but it is difficult to affect the inhibition of unconscious response.These results provide new empirical support for further study on the relationship between reward,consciousness and reaction inhibition,as well as provides a theoretical basis for normal and special group of response inhibition training teaching.
