English vocabulary is not only the cornerstone of English learning, but also the basis for human communication and the entire English teaching.Synonyms occupy a large proportion of the entire vocabulary,so they occupy a difficult and essential part in the process of English vocabulary learning. Therefore, how to make students better use and discriminate of synonyms in the large and complex English vocabulary system have become a major challenge in the process of English teaching. With the development of corpus linguistics,it provides a large number of real and effective contexts and examples for English vocabulary teaching. Therefore,it provides a new perceptive for English vocabulary teaching.By comparing the differences in the use of synonyms between English native speakers and English learners, which changed the teaching ideas of traditional vocabulary teaching, have provided help for the development of second language teaching. In this paper,BROWN and CLEC are used in this study.Based on corpus-based interlanguage contrastive analysis, using the related software WordNet?Antconc 3.4.4w in statistics,to analysis stay?remain and rather?quite, the purpose of that is to study the methods and characteristics of using these two groups of words by English native speakers, and to analyze and to contrast the differences in the use of these words by Chinese English learners and English native speakers, and to differ in methodological features and usage between different English learners when they using synonyms.According to research purpose mentioned above, the main findings are as follows:in the aspect of use frequency,Chinese English learners overuse the word stay, while the use of remain deficiencies. There is a phenomenon of underuse rather while excessive use of quite. In terms of collocation, the word "remain" is more abundant with words, but compared with English native speakers,Chinese English learners using stay and remain with the type of collocations are relatively simple, while the English native speakers use a lot of abundant vocabulary.Rather and quite, with a small number significant and a small number of words, which are very different from the native English speakers. In terms of semantic prosody, rather has a negative semantic trend, and quite has a positive trend of semantic, this is roughly the same with for native speakers.Based on these researches,we find some suggestions to English teachers in terms ofvocabulary teaching, dictionary compilation and etc,and hope to provide some helpful advice for future English teaching and students when they are using synonyms.1.In the teaching of synonyms, teachers should change the traditional teaching methods of synonyms, using a large amount of information in the database to provide some quantified data of vocabulary frequency and collocation.I believe it will be more objective and more efficient to find the similarities and differences between synonyms, and then will be more accurate to master the use of words.2.The native speaker corpora are rich in natural corpus and can be used as a corpus source for Chinese students' English test bank.It is necessary that the native language corpus can be used as a source of information for Chinese students' test bank.3.In lexicographical compiling, corpora provide a large number of real and effective examples for compilers with very good information.
