Due to the differences in the years of learning English,environment and ability,junior high school students have great individual differences in English learning.The current class teaching system adopts the unified teaching goal and method,so it cannot solve the problem of large difference among students.In view of that problem,the researcher adopts the action research and attempts to apply the Stratified Teaching model in English teaching of junior high school.This thesis aims to explore how to effectively use Stratified Teaching to solve the problem of students' individual differences in English teaching of middle school.The whole study involves two rounds of action research,which lasted for two months and one month for each round of action research.The study subjects are 48 students from Class Eight,Grade Seven in Zhengzhou No.94 Middle School.After the first monthly exam,students completed the first questionnaire.Students were classified to three levels:A,B,and C according to the results of the monthly exam,and each level has 16 people.And the class was carried on the stratified teaching,which includes the stratification of teaching objectives,classroom activities and homework assignments.After the first-round of action research,the researcher randomly selected two students from each level to conduct an interview.After adjusting the teaching program,the class continued to implement the stratified teaching.After the second-round of action research,students completed the second questionnaire.Each round of action research was followed by a test.The results of the research show that the Stratified Teaching model has a positive effect on solving the problem of individual differences in English teaching of junior high school.The average score of the whole class improves gradually,so do the students from each level.Most students' interest and motivation in learning English have been increased,and they also believe that the stratified teaching is helpful to theirEnglish study.Therefore,this teaching model not only makes the A-layer students better,but also helps the C-layer students make great progress,also makes the B-layer students improve gradually on the basis of mastering the basic knowledge.
