With the rapid development of start-ups in China,a large number of popular readings on business management has been emerging in market, among which Persuadable by the American management scientist Al Pitapamlli is an original one.Shortly after it was introduced to China, the author translated its chapters 1 and 2.This practice report, based on the author's translation practice, aims at discussing how to shorten the aesthetic distance between the translations of non-literary texts and their target readers and to minimize their indeterminacy. It can be divided into three parts:the first part(Chapters 1-3)overviews the contents of the book and the basic conditions of my translation practice;the second part(Chapter 4),the main body of the report, introduces reception aesthetics and literariness, then proves the application feasibility of the theory in the translation practice, and finally expatiates on 12 concrete approaches to shortening the aesthetic distance between target readers and translations and minimizing indeterminacy;and the final part(Chapter 5)is the conclusion, which talks about the experience gained from the practice and problems existing in it and the solutions to these problems. As a typical translation practice of non-literary books, the translation practice, detailed in the report, may provide some suggestions on how to translate non-literary writings from the perspective of reception aesthetics.
