Performance Study Of Kunqu "an Interrupted Dream From The Peony Pavilion"

This thesis takes the stage performance of Kunqu "An Interrupted Dream from The Peony Pavilion " as the object of study.Through comparing several stages of theatrical performance,it sums up the features of the performance from the Ming Dynasty to the present,and discusses the success and failure of the adaptation.I hope to find the right direction of Kunqu performance.This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part is to understand the theme of the author's objective in the original book by analyzing Tang Xianzu's life experience background and the meaning of "An Interrupted Dream from The Peony Pavilion ".Then there is an analysis of the performance scripts during the Ming and Qing Dynasties to summarize the characteristics of the performance of the time.The second part summarizes the context of the performance changes by comparing three versions since twenties century.The third part analyzes the background factors of performance changes at each stage of Kunqu and makes on refinements.
