Arthur Asa Berger's "academic murder" series includes four works: Postmortem for a postmodernist,The Hamlet case:the murders at the MLA,Mass Comm murders, and Emile Durkheim's death.Murder is a common theme in the four works of Arthur Berger. Therefore, these four novels are also known as "academic murder series" novels. The four novels contain two factors,"academic" and "murder",which involve a absurd case and a rich theory of theory, all of which involve the teaching of this knowledge group. Each character will show their unique theory in the novel, and their theory occupies most of the length of the small theory.Arthur Berger claims that "theory" is the leading role in his novels, and stories do not occupy a leading position. In his four novels,he integrates the theories of postmodernism, literary criticism, sociological theory and mass communication theory in four different fields, and skillfully integrates the three parts of plot narration, theory discrimination and media assistance, thus forming the unique experimental nature of the novel. The experimental characteristics of Arthur Berger's "academic murder series" are mainly manifested in two aspects: the exploration of literary style and the dissemination of academic theory. On the one hand, the novel is a bold introduction to the academic theory to make the theory a part of the plot deduction, the characterization and even the setting of the scene. On the other hand, the theoretical system in the novel is full of vivid contents, and relies on the development of story plots to show the new form and new meaning of the novel. Thus, the novel has become a stylistic field in a sense, and it has been successful for the reader to "have a theory course in the game",leaving a lot of thinking to the readers.
