Effects Of Others In Presence And Self- Control On Risk-taking Behaviors Of Adolescents

Adolescents are frequently involved in risk-taking behaviors that may have fatal dangers and long term effects.In line with the problem behavior theory,both personality factors and environment factors can influence adolescents' risk-behavior.Adolescence as sensitive period for sociocultural processing.Adolescence make more risky-taking behaviors,Furthermore,the person with low self-control is more likely to engage risky-taking behaviors.Therefore,this study will explore the influence of self-control level(individual factors)and others in presence(environmental factors)on adolescent risk-taking behaviors.This study examied adolescents ' self-control level and risk-taking behaviors with the self-control scale(SAS)and “The Stoplight Driving Game”,Study 1 designed to examine the effects of self-control and passenger gender on adolescent risk-taking behaviors.Study 2designed to examine the effects of self-control and passenger gender and age on adolescent risk-taking behaviors.The results are as follows:(1)self-control has a significant effect on risk-taking,low self-control adolescence have more risk-taking behaviors;(2)compared with the adult,the presence of peer made adolescent(male)has more risk-taking behaviors;(3)The level of self-control and the passenger gender can interact on adolescent risk-taking behaviors: compared with woman,the presence of men increased low self-control adolescent' risk-taking behaviors;(4)The level of self-control and the passenger gender and age can interact on adolescent risk-taking behaviors: compared with the adult and the woman,the presence of men peer made adolescent(male)has more risk-taking behaviors;...
