A Corpus-based Study On The Construction Of "Gai X Jiu X"

The construction of "Gai X Jiu X" is frequently used in spoken and written language,and its internal composition is complex,it is also a difficult problem for foreign students,but there are few research achievements in the academic circle.This paper tries to make a systematic and comprehensive investigation on the basis of previous studies,and attempts to make a detailed analysis of its semantics under the guidance of constructional grammar,detailed study of its pragmatic functions and semantic features under the guidance of modality theory and evaluation theory.Combining qualitative and quantitative analysis,combining description and interpretation to makes a detailed analysis of the internal components and syntactic functions of theconstruction.This paper puts forward my point of views as follows:Using the construction theory to identify the "Gai X Jiu X",which is a marked construction with tagged term "Gai" and "Jiu".Analytic corpus and extracts the core meaning of "Gai X Jiu X":The speaker emphasizes that in the implementation of a certain act or the condition of producing a result,it can be carried out in accordance with the logic of the development of the object,without interference from the external factors,to complete this behavior or to achieve the result,and the speaker think it is the most appropriate way of dealing with it.According to different contexts,we further analyze theconstruction meaning Aand construction meaning B.In the internal composition,we investigate the necessary modality verb "Gai",which has a moral state of expressing an obligation to dosomething and an epistemic modality to indicate that something should be done according to the reason.The relative adverb "Jiu" plays an important role in the relationship between "X1" and "X2",at the same time,it emphasizes the "X2,"and expresses a resolute attitude.Then according to corpus analysis,it is found that "X" is mainly concentrated on Monosyllabic and double syllable,the longest is no more than 8.In grammatical feature,"X" is mainly predicative component with[+autonomy]semantic features,a small amount of predicative component with[-autonomy]semantic features and nominals with verb usage can also enter the construction.There are a few asymmetric situations with the double influence of economic principles and pragmatic principles.In the syntactic function,we concluded that the construction of "Gai X Jiu X" is more likely to be a clause or an independent sentence,with combining thethree rule of clause and construction meaning of clause.In a clause,it is mainly used as predicate,and a small amount as object,subject and attributive.Finally,from the perspective of the whole structure,we can see a kind of "achieve",moreover "Gai" and "Jiu" contribute to expression of a large subjective quantity.We came to a conclusion that the construction of "Gai X Jiu X" is to express a large amount of subjective expression.Besides,it has subjective evaluation function,expressing recognition attitude,draining vent to impatience,anger and helplessness and tolerant mood;expressing the meaning of confirmation and emphasis;Highlight the focus of discourse;lastly,we conclude that it has a textual cohesive function,according to the construction of "Gai X Jiu X",which is mainly used as a clause of complex sentences and the concept of text cohesion.Then we study from three aspects:anaphoric that coordinate preceding content,cataphora that coordinate posterior content,Background anaphora that coordinate background knowledge between the two parties.
