The Great Ritual Controversy has always been one of the most milestone in the studies of Ming dynasty which was usually considered as the turning point of intellectual elite and spirit.As the oldest son of Yang Tinghe the core of The Great Ritual Controversy Yangshen's life got totally changed after the event also.Yangshen entered into the Imperial Academy as the top of Palace Examination.As the result of his comprehensive and exquisite academic achievement,historians had made a great achievement on arranging and studying on his work.However no one pays attention to his self-identity rebuilding which was exactly the most important details made up a complete Yangshen.This paper tries to figure out how did Yangshen became a literati from a sinner,a god from a mortal through social consensus by compering "the Spring and Autumn Annals" including the voice of government,society and later generations to"the Peripateticism" lived by Yangshen.Furthermore,this paper is going to explore the interaction between government and society,the local life of disgraced officer and the ideals of scholars beyond confucianist career.
