| English reading,as an important language input way,plays a vital role in English language learning.However,there are still many problems in the students’ English reading learning.For example,students lack initiative and do not know how to learn.Therefore,how to improve students’ reading initiative and teach students “learning to learn” have become a problem that many scholars constantly think over and try to explore.Reflective learning is a learning method by reflecting on the learning activities,which is an indispensable part of learning.It can optimize students’ thinking process,improve students’ enthusiasm for learning and instruct students to learn to learn.Therefore,this research employs reflective learning to improve students’ English reading learning,which attempts to explore answers for two research questions:(1)Can reflective learning improve students’ English reading ability?(2)Does reflective learning have various effects on students with different English reading levels? If so,what are the effects respectively?Accordingly,the author carried out 12 weeks’ experimental research in a Nine-year School of Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province from September to December in 2017..There are 64 participants who were selected from two parallel classes in junior two.Class two was randomly regarded as the experimental class;class one was the control class.The traditional reading learning method(content related exercise)was used in control class;while reflective learning was applied to experimental class.The research instruments include English reading test and interview.The author compared and analyzed the results of students’ English reading tests between experimental class and control class,the test results of students with different English reading levels before and after the experiment as well.At last,the researcher acquired the research conclusion combined with the analysis of the interview.The research results show: 1.reflective learning can improve junior high school students’ reading ability;2.reflective learning has various effects on students with different English reading levels: it has great effect on students with medium reading ability;it has moderate effect on students with higher English reading ability;and it only has a little effect on students with lower reading ability. |
