Orientation(or reorientation)is an ability that human and animals reaffirm their location and heading direction after getting lost by relying on cues in unfamiliar environment,it is an important component for establishing spatial representation of environment and navigation. Most domestic research have been focused on landmark and geometric cues,we investigate a new variable here:slop.we established two environments(an enclosure composed by black sheets and a virtual environment same with real enclosure),through the reorientation search paradigm,to examine whether good and poor sense-of-direction(SOD)people showed discrepant references of cues and capabilities of encoding cues during training and conflict tests, and to confirm if the VE is same with reality. The result is,participants with good SOD is significant better than poor SOD as for encoding slop cue in VE;cues are given different weights in two environments:slop is more prominent in reality, and landmark leads dominate in VE;rather than combine two cues, participants tended to focus on just one.overall,we came up with some suggestions according to results,to facilitate the application of VR technology in education and training systems, and to make poor SOD improve the ability of spatial representation.
