Exploring Social Reading Apps From A Cultural Perspective

Reading is a type of cultural phenomenon.From the history of the reading culture,every change in media technology had a profound impact on the way of reading.From "paper" reading to "screen" reading,the digital reading is becoming a common choice and even a cultural accepted habit.With the popularity of the social media software WeChat,the WeChat reading has opened a new chapter of reading become a new way of reading.Based on the Reception-Aesthetics,this paper intends to explore the relationship between the text in WeChat and the accepted subject in WeChat reading.On a larger scale,it discusses the influence of this reading method that based on social media which relies on social framework,to public reading culture.The study consists of five parts.The introduction part is the author's aim of writing this article,which is an analysis of reading in recent years.The first part describes the historical development of reading from the perspective of media evolution.As a type of social reading,WeChat reading is becoming a new way of reading.The second part focuses on the relationship between the text of WeChat and the accepted subject from the perspective of Reception-Aesthetics,emphatically analyzed the text characteristics of the Moments and the official account in detail,and discusses the interaction between the text and the accepted subject in the process of reading.The third part intrigues the think of the cultural phenomenon in WeChat reading from the context of popular culture.The fourth part is the conclusion of the thesis.As a new way of reading,WeChat reading has both innovation and challenge.How to examine the cultural characteristics of this reading style,and where is the future of social reading?It has become an important problem to be paid close attention to and discussed in the current society.
