With the development of education,individualized education has become a trend.Meanwhile,with the development of new English curriculum reform and the approval of English Curriculum Standards,English teaching aims to foster students'comprehensive language competence,the design of individualized English homework is an important aspect of advocating the concept of individualized education.However,in the face of huge pressure of college entrance examination,most schools still adhere to the traditional "one-size-fits-all" approach to assigning English homework,and the individualized education concept has not been effectively implemented in homework assigning.Individualized homework refers to the understanding and application of English knowledge and English language skills,and making full use of the knowledge in the process of solving practical problems,letting different students get developed in different aspects.In order to meet the needs of the new curriculum reform,the No.1 Middle School in Jinghai district of Tianjin has carried out the individualized homework since 2012.This study will discuss the implementation status of individualized English homework in Jinghai No.1 Middle School and its implementation effect.This study will be based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences,The Zone of Proximal Development Theory and the Constructivism Theory and National English Curriculum Standard,using the instruments of questionnaire and interview to investigate the status of application of individualized English homework,in order to find out major problems and difficulties in implementing individualized English homework of Jinghai No.]Middle School,for which the author will sort out countermeasures to solve the existing problems.The results show that,firstly,students prefer diversified homework rather than English homework like "recitation,copy and mechanical drills".Secondly,individualized English homework helps to improve students' interest and motivation in English learning.In addition,individualized English homework helps students to promote the autonomy of learning English.What' s more.individualized English homework helps students improve their English language competence.However,the research data also show that some English teachers still use transcription of words.memorization of text or words,mechanical exercises and so on.English learning interest of some students is still unimproved and some of the students still haven't formed autonomous learning habits.In the process of learning English knowledge.an obvious problem is that lots of students in senior high still don't have good knowledge of social life topics of English speaking countries.In view of the above problems,the author gives corresponding suggestions:first,teachers must adhere to the student-centered approach and explore a set of individualized homework designing methods.Second,teachers can use on-line tools to assign homework.Third,teachers should design homework according to students'interests and talents.Fourth,teachers should do good guidance to help students carry out their homework independently.Fifth,teachers must increase teaching contents by adding cultural knowledge,and make students to practice more to develop language skills.
