A Study Of The Typical Illustration Words In The Memory Palace

As one of the works of the western missionaries,The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci is the first writing of memory written in Chinese.But it has not been given the same attention as other works,and is even ignored for a long time.A few studies only research the memory method from the aspects of psychology and medicine,and ignore the interpretation of Chinese characters and words.From the perspective of philology,this paper studies the one hundred and twenty-five typical illustration words in this work and conducts a comparative study between illustration words and ones of Annotation to origin of chinese characters "annotation",finding that The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci has certain rules and significance in selecting examples and explaining examples.The memory method of Matteo's Chinese character plays an important role in teaching Chinese and exploring the cultural significance of Chinese characters,which should arouse the attention and profound study of scholars.The structure of this article is as follows: seven chapters:The first chapter is Introduction,it makes clear the basis of this topic.This paper reviews the publishing and research status of The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci".It analyses the reason that this work has been neglected for a long time to clarify the research significance of The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci.It introduces the selection of words in this article,the methods of research and the characteristics of the research.In the second chapter,this paper makes an analysis on one hundred and twenty-five characters of Chinese characters.According to the order of the original text,each Chinese character is divided into the annotation of "The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci".The domestic authority("Shuowen Jiezi" "Annotation" notes etc.),and comparison and analysis of three parts,to summarize the analysis on this basis.The third chapter makes an analysis on the interpretation of the one hundred and twenty-five Chinese characters.Based on the interpretation and translation of the second chapter,the interpretation of the object can be summed up to analyze the meaning of the method of interpretation and the enlightenment to the teaching methods of Chinese as a foreign language.The fourth chapter analysis on the radicle of Chinese characters,through the comparison of "The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci" and the "Shuowen Jiezi",to analyze the internal basis and rules of Matteo Ricci in selecting and arranging Chinese characters.The fifth chapter expounds the cultural significance of the representative examples of "The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci".Although,The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci",is a memory technique,it is mainly a memory method.But the interpretation combined with the characteristics of interpretation Chinese Chinese characters,Ricci was subjective.The definition of subjectivity can be seen in Ricci's cultural thought.The sixth chapter analyzes the social reasons behind interpretation of The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci.It is mainly the contrast between Chinese pictograph and the Chinese memory technology.It explains the different Chinese characters and ways of thinking reflected in the western culture.The seventh chapter summarizes the full text.It reviews the structure and main contents of the full text,and draws a research conclusion.On the basis of this,it further explains the significance and value of the "The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci".It also points out the shortcomings of this study and the prospect of the future.
