| The phenomenon of impolite language usage in computer-mediated communication should be taken seriously.So far,the study about impolite online communication in domestic academia mainly focuses on online forum,QQ group chat,news website reviews,interaction on microblog and so on,but there are few studies about usage of impolite language on WeChat.Because of its unique characteristics,language impoliteness WeChat official accounts calls for our attention.Among numerous WeChat official accounts,the one named ' Mi Meng' has become a'phenomenal' hotspot with its unique language style in the present era of self-media.In view of this,we tried to take 'Mi Meng' as an example,taking the impolite addressing terms appearing in "Mi Meng" and using the rele-vant theories of pragmatics and sociolinguistics to investigate online impolite addressing terms.We used documentary,corpus,and semi-structured interview to investigate online impolite addressing terms.First,we collected 474 articles from 'Mi Meng' WeChat official account to make up a small corpus,and we selected a few of the language materials on 'Tianya BBS' as our source of corpus.Then,based on the corpus,we put forward the definition of online impolite addressing terms,summarized the characteristics of such terms and classified them by referring to the usage frequency of the online impolite addressing terms in the corpus and the semantic contents of these terms.Finally,we used the semi-structured interview method to do some empirical investigation of online impolite addressing terms and summarized their functions of communication and social influence.According to our studies,we defined the impolite addressing terms online as network-borne referential expressions that may threaten the self-esteem of the objectives.The main features of these terms include:diversity of origins,negativity,uncontrollability of spread and temporariness of popularity.Based on whether the term directly threats the dignity of the objective,online impolite addressing terms are divided into 'direct online impolite addressing terms' and 'indirect online impolite addressing terms'.Online impolite addressing terms reflects the characteristics of youth subculture,and it enables people to construct personal identity,relationship identity and group identity.WeChat official accounts play the role of 'opinion leaders',so we should be alert to the values reflected by online impolite addressing terms and the 'public voice undertow' of online impolite addressing terms spread through WeChat official accounts. |
