A Study On Chu Wanghua’s Seven Variations On Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

The Australian Chinese composer and pianist,Mr.Chu Wanghua,is one of the few Chinese composers who specialized in composing piano music.The composing of piano music works began in the 50’s of the 20 th century,and his works have been produced in almost every era.Due to the continuity and uninterruptedly of his composition,he has been hailed as "a composer who has been active on the stage of piano composition.” The author has interviewed Mr.Chu through Emails,and obtained the first-hand and detailed information about the composition of Seven Variations on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.By collating,analyzing,and summarizing,more detailed contents have been obtained,and these will support the author’s analysis and opinion.Seven Variations on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a series of seven variations on the theme of “Litter Star”,that was composed in 2014 by Mr.Chu Wanghua.He was invited by international composer Mr.Yu Jingjun to compose this piano works.This music works combines the techniques of the 20 th century modern music and Chinese folk music composition,both Eastern and Western music composing techniques have been integrated,and becomes one with the special Chinese charm and national characteristics music works.It embodies distinctive characteristics of the times and national temperament.Research methods adopted in this essay are literature research,interview method,inductive analysis method,comparative study,and other research methods.By sorting out the literature materials of Mr.Chu Wanghua’s piano works,the author makes a deep analysis of the composing techniques and the style of his music works.The author tries to summarize the musical characteristics of his performance techniques,and style of composing used in this piece through collation and induction of his composing skills,so that to conduct theoretical analysis and performance moreaccurately while correctly conveying the musical spirit of this piece.Thus,the essay would show that Mr.Chu Wanghua’s piano music works play an important and indispensable role in the field of Chinese modern music composition.
