Research On The Acceptance Of China English Words From The Perspective Of Culture Output

In 1980,Ge Chuangui proposed the concept of China English.Afterward,the researches of China English have experienced 3 stages: research about the definition,empirical research and research of its function.More and more scholars begin to admit China English as a variety of English.With the development of China national power,the need to output Chinese culture is stronger.China English as a localized variety of English should spread the Chinese culture it loads.However,most researches about China English words and culture output are carried out just from the perspective of one country,researches carried out from the perspective of both home and abroad are very few.Therefore,this research analyzes the using condition of China English words both at home and abroad,aiming to find out the using condition of China English words from the perspective of culture output,and giving some implication for future China English words creation and output.This research adopted the definition of China English proposed by Jia Guanjie and Xiang Mingyou,viewing China English as objective existing and can spread Chinese culture to the world.Based on that,989 and 534 China English words were picked out through the method of close reading from Chinese news media China Daily and western news media The New York Times respectively.These words were recorded through SPSS,and classified from the perspective of semantic field and calque method,and the high frequency words from The New York Times were listed.Through the analysis of the classified data and high frequency words,this research found how China output China English words to the world,and how the western world use and treat China English words.Five questions are answered in this research:(1)What is the distribution of the China English words China output from the perspective of semantic field?(2)What is the distribution of the China English words China output from the perspective of calque method?(3)What is the distribution of the China English words western countries use from the perspective of semantic field?(4)What is the distribution of the China English words western countries use from the perspective of calque method?(5)Which group of the China English words is used by western countries with high frequency?Through the research,it is found that the semantic field and calque method of China English words in China Daily is also suitable for those of words in The New York Times,and most China English words can be accepted by The New York Times.This indicates that China English words has its unique advantage in spreading Chinese culture and plays a positive role in Chinese culture output.In the process of output,precise translation of the words is very important,and there are many Chinese words still need more precise translation.With the development of China,many new China English words will appear in various different semantic fields,as western countries focus on many aspects of China,those words will gradually appear in western news report.In the process of culture output,China should continue to strengthen culture confidence,and try to create more China English words through phonological calque to construct Chinese culture identity.
