With the development of economic globalization,English is becoming more and more important in many aspects, especially when it comes to diplomatic matters.English education is also emphasized a lot in middle schools. However,English learning weariness is becoming more and more common among students. What causes the students to be weary of learning English and how to eliminate the English learning weariness? In this thesis, the author takes senior high school students in Nanxi High School as an example to investigate and analyze the reasons causing their English learning weariness. The effect of learning self-efficacy on eliminating learning weariness is also examined in this study. This paper starts with the introduction on the current situation of senior high school students' English learning weariness and the related knowledge of English learning weariness and self-efficacy.By carrying out experimental approach,it then demonstrates the authors' hypothesis that learning self-efficacy is really effective in eliminating students' learning weariness.According to the related studies, learning self-efficacy is positively associated with students' academic achievement, and the most obvious outcome resulted from English learning weariness is that the students' English academic achievement is generally poor.Based on the mutually-interacted relationship between English learning weariness, learning self-efficacy and English academic achievement, the writer explores whether learning self-efficacy is effective in eliminating students' learning weariness, and whether it can help English teachers effectively apply the learning self-efficacy to improve the students' English academic achievement in their future teaching practice. This thesis is composed of five parts. The first part is the introduction,in which the writer introduces the research background, purpose and significance of the study. In the second part, the author explains the definition of learning weariness and expounds the related research on the English learning weariness at home and abroad. And then the definition of self-efficacy and its related research are discussed. On this basis, the hypothesis that the improvement of learning self-efficacy can eliminate the students' weariness of learning English to a certain extent is presented. In the third part,it explains the related methods and the experimental process of the research. The fourth part is the analysis of the results of the interview, questionnaire and tests.According to the analysis of the results of the interview, the author summarizes four factors that lead to students' English learning weariness, including the family factor, school factor, social factors and personal factor. The relationship between learning self-efficacy and English academic achievement is verified based on the questionnaire about English learning self-efficacy,and measures are taken to improve the students' learning self-efficacy,and further eliminate their English learning weariness. The results of the post-test proved that it is really effective to eliminate students' English learning weariness by promoting their learning self-efficacy.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis, where the research is summarized before putting forward some suggestions on English teaching in senior high schools. In the classroom teaching, the students' learning self-efficacy can be improved by taking proper measures in English teaching. Also the teachers are encouraged to pay more attention to those who lacks learning self-efficacy in English learning process with effective communication, which will effectively avoid the emergence of English learning weariness.
