The state's support for education in poverty alleviation work and the education in rural compulsory stage schools have attracted attention.The first grade is the state compulsory education stage,and it is also a transition period and a critical period for student learning.If students' learning self-efficacy is low,they will affect the performance of students' learning behaviors,the motivation of learning,the persistence of learning,and the emotions of learning.Lower motivation will affect students'academic performance,interest in learning,and attitude toward learning.This shows that students learn the importance of self-efficacy and learning motivation in the learning process.This study combined with English subject learning to understand the current situation of English learning self-efficacy,English learning motivation,and English academic achievement in rural junior students,and to study the relationship between English learning self-efficacy,English learning motivation,and English academic achievement.Explore the factors that affect their English learning self-efficacy,and design targeted group counseling based on influencing factors and group counseling related theories.This study selected the first-year students of Mamiao Middle School,Jiamiao Middle School,and Dandian Middle School(Education Poverty Alleviation School)in rural townships in Tuanfeng County,Huanggang City,Hubei Province.Questionnaires and experimental methods were used for research.A total of 270 questionnaires were distributed and 262 were returned.Through the data results,20 students with low English learning self-efficacy were selected as subjects.They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group each with 10 men and 5 women in each group.Group counseling studies were conducted 8 times in the experimental group and no control measures were taken for the control group.The results showed that female students in rural areas had significantly higher levels of self-efficacy in English learning,English learning motivation,English academic performance than in grade one boys.Ma Miao Middle School had the lowest scores in each of the three schools.In terms of learning English,Ma Miao Middle School was significantly lower than Jia Miao Middle School.In terms of English academic achievement,Mamiao Middle School is significantly lower than Jiamiao Middle School and Dandian Middle School.There was a significant positive correlation between the students' English self-efficacy,English learning motivation,and English academic performance.The sub-dimension of learning motivation,that is,the internal role of intrinsic interest and learning scenarios in the rural junior high school students' English learning self-efficacy and English learning achievement.The study showed that after the group counseling,the experimental group had significant differences in learning self-efficacy and sub-dimension,English learning motivation,academic performance,which were higher than the level before the experiment.Subjects in the control group had no significant changes before and after their level.The experimental group was significantly higher than the control group in English learning self-efficacy and English academic achievement.The experimental group was significantly higher than the control group in terms of English learning self-efficacy,English learning motivation,and English academic performance.
