Emerged in Tang Dynasty,matured in the Song and Ming dynasties,reached the peak in the Ming Dynasty,and epitomized its overall aesthetics in the Qing Dynasty,the selection of Tang poetry—a dominating form of selection,annotation,and literary criticism—is importantfor us to testify issues such as literary form,aesthetic tendency,and literary relevance of different eras.A Revised Col lection of Renown Poems in the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty which edited by Li Huai-min,a poet of poetry in the mid-Qing Dynastyis a book of poetry theoretical criticism in the poetics of the Qing Dynasty.Inheriting the factions of Zhang Ji and Jia Dao,Li Huai-minchosed several poets in the middle and late Tang period,wrote his opinions on the poems of the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty in the form of punctuation and commentary,and explained the interpretations of the poetry with unique view and angle,which is self-contained and have lasting influence.The core content of A Revised Collection of Renown Poems in the Middle and Late Tang Dynastyare the division of the two schools of Zhang and Jia,as well as the rich poetic connotation embodied in Li's comments.This paper,based on those two points,divides the thesis into three parts.The introduction categorizes the results related to this research,discusses its achievements and shortcomings,and then highlights the focus and significance of this topic.chapter one contains biographical information and literary career on Li Huai-min,as well as the style and version of A Revised Collection of Renown Poems in the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty,revealing the fact that Li not only made his way upstream but also pointed out current malpractice directly amid complex poetry of the Qing Dynasty.Chapter two mainly focuses on the division of poetry.Li Huaimin set up a new classification method for the division and subject and guest form of the poet's subject and guest map,and divided the wulu of the middle and late Tang Dynasty into two schools according to the poetic style and the relationship with the poets,thus explaining the poets' factional relations.It's a method which has more scientific research scope,more complete theoretical systemand more precise classification of poets.focusing on textual analysis and Li Huai-min's cold aesthetic and evaluation style,chapter three classifiedthe poetic view included in the comments of A Revised Collection of Renown Poems in the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty,that is,the poetic creation view alike the middle and late Tang Dynasty and the late Tang Dynasty,the poetic aesthetic view marked by "Natural strange,unusual","extravagant and deep feeling" and the poetic criticism view known for "customs customs,non-sentence","worship the bones,worship the wind".Li Huaimin not only rediscovered the beauty of poetry in the middle and late Tang Dynasty,but also constructed a series of complete theories of poetry criticism,which undoubtedly make a great contribution to the study of Tang poetry,Qing poetryand the intersection and reconstruction ofliterature.
