The Study On The Middle And Late Tang Dynasty Frontier Fortress Poems Of Yuefu

Such as people join the army and go out of the frontier pass, soldiers defend our country, associations of various nationalities. People can express their aspirations for country. They also can oppose war. Poets give expressions to their feelings with singings of history. They also narrate events in real life. Their poems involve military affairs, politics, economy, culture. Their poems express friendship of friends, love between husband and wife, pain of separation, sadness of family member's death. All of these poems can be called frontier fortress poems because they connect with frontier fortress life. Frontier fortress poems have abundant contents. Many poets write frontier fortress poems of Yuefu in the middle and late Tang dynasty. In the period, we can divide three stages. Every stage has its own characteristics. Their point of similarity is that the poems are full of depressed and sad atmosphere. The feeling in the poems is desolate and gloomy. They also have different points. From the point of images, the density of images in frontier fortress poems of Yuefu is bigger than in other frontier fortress poems in the middle and late Tang dynasty. From the point of the poems'contents, frontier fortress poems mostly are invented. And few poems have some connections with reality. Other frontier fortress poems are concentrated with concrete conditions. The last part of the article summarizes characteristics, value and position in the whole period of middle-late Tang dynasty of frontier fortress poems of Yuefu.
