The Theory Of Historical Figures

In the long history,many well-known historical figures have sprung up.Some of them have been on the scroll of fame because of their outstanding contributions.However,others remain notorious because of hindering the development of history.In short,they all have left deep impression on people in the history.In the face of this historical heritage,we should treat it rationally and evaluate it objectively and appropriately.Social history is made up of historical figures.Historical phenomena and historical events cannot be separated from people who are the main body of history.The recognition and evaluation of historical figures is an important part of the social and historical view.This paper explores the key question:how to understand and treat correctly historical figures in the current historical conditions in China?The author explains the theory of historical figures from the following aspects:the definition of historical figures,the conditions of playing their roles,the evaluation standard for historical figures and the contemporary value of historical figures.This paper consists of six parts.Chapter One is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background and significance of the research.Chapter Two,the author demonstrates historical figures based on relevant concepts,describes the common characteristics of historical figures,and defines historical figures from both connotation and denotation.The purpose is to seek a common context to discuss the issue.In the Chapter Three and the Chapter Four,in terms of both objective and subjective aspects,the author discusses the conditions in which historical figures play their roles.And demonstrate the historical premise of play their historical roles,that is,the existence of the historical law.Then,clarify the relationship between historical figures and social and historical conditions from the dialectical relationship between inevitability and contingency,in which,the social historical conditions,the growth environment and individual subjective conditions appearing in historical figures are separately explained in terms of generality,particularity,and individuality.Finally,explore how historical figures influence the development of social history based on personal characteristics,including talents,personality,hobbies,needs,interests,and practice in specific conditions.Chapter Five discusses the question about the evaluation of historical figures.Firstly,the principle of evaluation is drawn from the contradictory phenomena in the evaluation of historical figures,and then reviewing several evaluation standards.Secondly,from the two aspects of science and value,it demonstrates the rationality and feasibility of the standard of historical function.Chapter Six makes some exploration on the contemporary value of historical figures.It explores the significance of historical figures for the current social development;analyzes some factors that prevent the historical figures from playing their social value;and finally puts forward some pertinent measures.The whole paper seeks to clarify the theoretical issues of historical figures under the guidance of Marx's historical materialism,and make some beneficial exploration of historical figures' contemporary value to guide the public to view historical figures correctly and respond effectively to the challenges of historical nihilism,through which,we learn from the past and guide today.
