A Study On Learner Experience In Online English Learning Communities

Based on the background of booming online English learning camp,the author tries to explore the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of camp to provide some experience for other online English learning communities.The author,after registering into the online learning community,contacts and recruits 3 online English learning community volunteers as the research participants.The author applies participatory observation,in-depth interview as well as recording the experience sharing meeting to collect learner experience in the process of learning.And then the author adopts content analysis to group learner experience into four dimensions,including learner,instructor,learning activities and learning environment.In this research,the author mainly wants to find out the following questions:1.What experience do learners get in online English learning community?2.What factors can influence the learner experience?The results are as follows:the learner emotional experience mainly includes the sense of achievement,the sense of belonging and the sense of frustration.As for the dimension of instructors,learners hold a positive attitude to the professional instructors,while the teaching style should be paid more attention;In the dimension of learning activities,learners are satisfied with the quality and quantity of learning content,but the fixed learning mode constrains learners subjective initiative.Learners get a strong sense of belonging in the process of interpersonal interaction,but the internet and the platform should be improved.The influencing factors include learner,learning community and learning platform.Learners motivations and expectations influence their performance and experience directly.In addition,the quality and difficulty can make a difference,while the learning mode in this learning community lacks flexibility.Environment is a kind of important resource.Technological environment plays a fundamental role in learning,while social environment influences learners emotional experience more.
