Phonics is an English learning method which includes the process of word reading and word spelling.Through the establishment of correspondence between the letters and their sound, students can read the written words and spell the words heard. On the one hand, the learning of phonics provides an easy approach for vocabulary study. On the other hand,it develops the reading competence of students, decreasing the difficulty of language learning especially for an English starter. With the grapheme-phoneme correspondence, students can read and even understand a new word through referring to their oral vocabulary, which helps them read more fluently.Nowadays, phonics has already been put into real instruction by domestic teachers, who also did a lot of research on it.Whereas, the present phonics teaching centers on the aims of rules as well as words learning.Meanwhile, the phonics teaching, with the aids of picture books, chant and other multimedia including videos and audios, may have a better supplement to the traditional teaching method which has limitation on the linking of words and their meaning.Through this new method, the learning of phonics can be more complete. Therefore, this paper decides to explore the influence of image-text resources, including picture stories,AV(audios and videos),especially the cartoons and so on to phonics teaching,in order to help realize a better instructional result,as well as help the primary school students grasp the knowledge of phonics and read independently and fluently.
