A Study On E-c Translation Of English For Science And Technology From The Perspective Of Ideational Grammatical Metaphor

Marine English has become increasingly important with the globalization of our country's marine undertakings.By taking the translation task of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures as the object,this report describes the whole process of translation practice,including background information,auxiliaries to translation and translation plans.And then,this report explores the translation of EST texts from the perspective of ideational grammatical metaphor.The findings are as follows: it is the process transference that results in metaphor of transitivity.Also,the corresponding translation skills lie in the transference of the process,including transference from relational process to material process,existential process to material process and mental process to material process,which are formed into the translation skill from the static state to the dynamic state,highlighting the dynamic feature of Chinese.Besides,on the basis of 13 ideational grammatical metaphor put forward by Halliday,four skills of lexical conversion are studied: the nominalization of verbs,the nominalization of adjectives,the adjectivization of adverbial phrases and the adjectivization of verbs,in an effort to facilitate the research of other translators.
