Translation studies are the guidance and source of theory for translators to take translation activities.The theory studies about translation have been continuously enriched for a long time,among which there is no lack of the novel and unique opinions that inject new theories to translation activities.The opinion about relevance theory in the book,Translation and Relevance-Cognition and Context,is unique.It firstly matches the theory with translation studies to inspire translators to find optimal relevance in translation activities.In order to expand translators' mind and let them have an overall understanding about the nature of translation,the author specially selects the book as to carry her translation practice.The book that belongs to academic text is full of strong logicality,for which accurately and appropriately translating the connectives to be correspondent with the need of text is very important.Selecting the book,Translation and Relevance-Cognition and Context,as the material of translation practice,the author mainly focuses on studying the translation of connectives in the text.And the report mainly includes 4 parts: introduction,the process of translation,case study and conclusion.In the report,translation strategies such as omission,addition and free translation are used according to the different usage of connectives in Chinese and English and the genre of original text.Because these two languages,Chinese and English,have different frequency of use and using habit,omission and addition are repeatedly used in the process of translation.Moreover,free translation and selection of word meaning are used many times to avoid rigid expression and promise fluent reading speed of readers.
