As a kind of affective variables,anxiety can not be ignored.Scholars from abroad and home have done extensive surveys of foreign language learning anxiety.They always choose college students,senior and junior school students as their research subjects.During their researches,not only the factors caused the anxiety and the influence on English learning were analyzed,but also the strategies for reducing the foreign language learning anxiety were discussed.However,English learning anxiety of students with learning difficulties in rural junior schools is seldom studied.Some researchers define ?students with learning difficulties? as ?the students who have normal intelligence and healthy body and mind,but among the specific group,their scores are significantly lower than the average mark.? English learning in junior 2 is the back bone of the whole English learning in junior education.Coming up to junior 2,due to the superior difficulty of English textbooks,much more new words,less interest in learning English and the appearance of physics,students' time for study becomes limited,many students start giving up English and two stage separation performs seriously.In this thesis,the author interviewed 20 students with learning difficulties,2 English teachers and 3 guardians of students with learning difficulties,and investigated 100 students with learning difficulties with the instrument FLCAS.Then the author analyzed the present status of English learning anxiety of students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas and the factors caused their anxiety,finally,the author gave the answers to the following 3 questions:1.What's the English learning anxiety status of the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas?2.What's the possible cause of the English learning anxiety of the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas?3.What's the strategy for helping the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas to reduce the English learning anxiety?This thesis mainly depends on the questionnaire and interview to investigate 100 students with learning difficulties in junior 2 of 2 rural middle schools in Pingliang City.The results from the analysis and conclusion of the collected data and information are shown as follows:1.Comparing with the previous study,most of the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas suffer from a higher level of English learning anxiety.2.In this thesis,through the qualitative study and the quantitative study,the author finds that students with learning difficulties in junior high school in rural areas have no enough confidence in themselves and in schoolwork,too many tests make them feel uneasy and stressful,living with an unhealthy home environment,the subjects couldn't receive correct direction,competition between students,excessive vocabularies and grammar as well as the negative evaluation,all of them exist as the main factors cause the English learning anxiety of the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas.3.Some strategies are supplied to the students with learning difficulties themselves,their teachers and their parents,the schools and the society,it's expected that various people related to students with learning difficulties will do a service to help reducing the English learning anxiety of the students with learning difficulties in junior high schools in rural areas,and improving their English achievements and the overall level of rural English teaching.
