The Research Of Sawyer's Theory Of Social Emergence

Marx's theory of social history includes micro dimension and macro dimension.The micro dimension constructs the system of historical materialism on the perspective of individual activities(labor).However the macro dimension is based on the contradictory movement between productive forces and production relations,economic base and superstructure to describe the development of social history.The relationship between individual and society is the essential question of the theory of social emergence.It is a comprehensive theory that combines emergent theory and social system theory.And it is also a new paradigm trying to provide a way for explaining the movement of social history.Sawyer's social emergence paradigm is based on the general definition of the emergence of the British School of emergent and the philosophy of mind.With two schools of emergence of the interpretation of the concept,"emergence" in Sawyer's paradigm is interpreted as the higher levels of things established in the lower level of things and their relations has its own nature and law which belong to the high level and they are irreducible."Emergence" is a new thing in the process of generation and it also shows that the new things are independent,and the new things are based on the same ontology with their composition.After clarifying the theoretical basis of the social emergence paradigm,this paper further examines the methodological basis of Sawyer's social emergence paradigm.The phenomenon of social emergence researched by the social emergence paradigm is one of the research objects of the complex adaptive system.The complex adaptive system not only defines the general characteristics of the system,but also provides the characteristics of the social system.More importantly,with the complex adaptive system,Sawyer constructs the social system of multi-level paradigm,and uses computer multi-agent systems to simulate social emergent process,observes how the social emergence occurs,find out the key factors,and prove each level and their relationship are important in the process of emergence.After clarifying the social emergent paradigm theory and methodology,this paper begins to the detailed analysis on Sawyer's social emergent paradigm,in order to accurately understand and grasp the various levels of the Sawyer's social emergent paradigm and the relationship betweenthem,and deep analyzes the relationship between social emergent paradigm and various social theories.And then it is concluded that Sawyer's social emergence paradigm is a comprehensive paradigm.In addition,this paper also make a detailed discussion of how Sawyer's social emergent paradigm based on new understanding of individual-social relations beyond methodological individualism and collectivism methodology.On the basis of this step is to comb the inner logic of Sawyer social emergent paradigm.And the conclusion part is the conclusion of methodological significance of the paradigm of social emergence.In addition,it briefly discusses the relationship between social emergent paradigm and Marx's social theory,and expect to be able to combine the two of them,in order to use the latest achievements in social emergence theory to further enrich and develop Marx's view of society.
