Enlightenment Of The Petty Urbanites:Dushushenghuo And The Cultural Practice Of Shanghai Left-wing Intellectuals

This article takes the left-wing magazine called Dushushenghuo in the mid-1930 s as the center.According to the combing and integration of its development history,the article try to inquire into the enlightenment of left-wing intellectuals such as Li Gongpu,Liu Shi,Ai Siqi,and Xia Zhengnong to the petty urbanites.The dissertation consists of three chapters.The first chapter provides a relatively comprehensive historical background.It mainly examines the generation of left-wing intellectuals,introduces the situation of the petty urbanites,and briefly explains the formation of Shanghai's left-wing cultural network.The second chapter reviews the development history of Dushushenghuo,focusing on left-wing knowledge production,examining editorial groups' efforts in the spread of left-wing culture,and trying to understand the acceptance of the petty urbanites.The third chapter shifts the focus from "reading"(knowledge production)to "living"(everyday life),and explores the relationship between daily life of petty urbanites and social reality and revolutionary movement.From this we can see that the left-wing culture-oriented knowledge enlightenment is the intrinsic appeal of left-wing intellectuals to encourage petty urbanites to study.In the process of practice,on the one hand,they pay close attention to the people,emphasize popular and interesting,and on the other hand guide the readers to understand the leftist thought resources.Emphasis on daily life is also an important feature of Dushushenghuo.In the left-wing ideological logic,all thinking about daily life,the final destination is in social issues.Only when it rises to this height,the daily life experience can be linked to revolution.With the help of the double-restart of knowledge and life,cultural practices that focus on adaptation and guidance are displayed.
