| Art song is a specific vocal music genre with unique artistic style and aesthetic features.Born in the early 19~thh century,it enjoys a development history of over 200 years.As a product of the music in Europe’s Romantic period and an important genre of songs,art song not only plays an important role in the history of European music,but also possesses irreplaceable artistic value for music performance.Franz Schubert is one of the founders of Romantic music,and he created more than 600 art songs throughout his life and has been hailed as the“King of Art Songs”.His works,inheriting the traditions of classical music,focus on expressing his own feelings,thus forming his unique vocal music style.Richard Strauss was the last composer of the late Romanticism.On the basis of inheriting the traditional writing techniques of German and Austrian art songs,he continuously and boldly reformed and innovated to form his own new style,greatly promoting the development of art song as a vocal music genre.The art songs of Schubert and Strauss are worth careful study and research of modern-day vocal music learners.A comparison between the two art songs developed by Schubert and Strauss that shared the same name“St?ndchen”can help us clarify the artistic features and creative styles of the two songs,understand the differences and similarities between their singing styles,and improve our singing skills as well as our artistic taste.Based on a thorough understanding of the artistic features and development of Romantic art songs,taking the art songs of the same name by Schubert and Strauss as the research subjects,the author conducts analysis and comparison in hope of providing learning materials for singers and vocal music learners,and helping the latter improve their singing skills to better interpret German and Austrian art songs.This paper is divided into three chapters.The firstchapter focuses on the discussion of the lives of Schubert and Strauss,introducing respectively the backgrounds of the two composers and their music creations in different fields,and gives a detailed introduction to their creation of art songs.As the main part of this paper,the second chapter compares and analyzes the creation style and artistic features of“St?ndchen”by the two composers.The third chapter presents the analysis of the singing performances of the two serenades,which is carried out from three aspects,namely the pronunciation of German,the processing of timbre,and the coordination with piano accompaniment,to discern the differences and similarities between the two performances.Then,this paper proposes advice on the singing performance of art songs for vocal music learners. |
