The previous research of The Natural Numeral Marvelous Imagery Memory(NNMIM)mainly focused on behavioral experiments which show that NNMIM has an extremely significant role in improving memory efficiency and recognition accuracy.However,there are relatively few studies on the characteristics of the cognitive neural basis of the brain in NNMIM,so it is difficult to fully reflect the characteristics of the cognitive neural basis of the brain in NNMIM and explain the reasons why NNMIM can improve the memory efficiency and the recognition accuracy rate.In the past,researchers mainly used complex numbers,chemical elements,Chinese concrete words and abstract words to study the basic characteristics of the cognitive neural basis of the brain in NNMIM.Considering the research contents and experimental materials,there is no ERP experimental study which use Chinese place names as experimental materials.In order to enrich the theoretical research on the brain cognition of NNMIM and provide scientific basis and reference for advantages and efficiency of NNMIM so that it could be more widely used in learning,working and life,this study uses Chinese place names which contain two words as experimental materials and adopts the experimental paradigm of " learning-recognition" to investigate the characteristics of the brain cognitive neural basis in the recognition stage when college students use different memory methods(NNMIM and mechanical memory)to remember place names.Through researching,the study draws the following conclusions:(1)The recognition accuracy rate of NNMIM is significantly higher than that of mechanical memory,which shows that NNMIM can improve the memory efficiency and the recognition accuracy rate.(2)The remarkable new/old effects of frontal area,central area,top area and occipital area were observed in the 320-600 ms and 700-900 ms time windows,which indicated that the recognition of NNMIM depended on the early FN400 familiarity processing and the late LPC recall processing.(3)Mechanical memory only observed significant new/old effects in forehead,forehead and central areas on 750-900 ms time windows,indicating that mechanical memory recognition depends on familiarity processing.(4)NNMIM significantly induces more negative P200,N300,N400 and LPC than mechanical memory,which shows that the recognition and processing of NNMIM consumes more cognitive resources and has greater processing intensity.During the early and late processing stages,the new and old effects covered a wide range of brain regions,suggesting that the recognition of NNMIM fully mobilized the processing advantages of the whole brain.There are different cognitive processing processes in recognition of NNMIM and mechanical memory,the former depends on two different psychological processing processes----familiarity and recall,while the latter depends on familiarity processing,which explains the main reason why NNMIM can improve the recognition accuracy but the response is slower.
