Classroom environment is the place where students spend the most time in learning.Previous studies have shown that classroom environment has an important influence on students’ academic achievement and learning attitude.The relationship between classroom environment and students’ learning outcomes has been a hot topic for researchers.These researches mainly discuss the influence of classroom environment on students’ learning achievement from the aspects of teachers and students’ psychological perception of classroom environment.Although there are many researches in this field abroad,most of them focus on the natural science classroom environment of primary and middle school students,there is a few researches on the classroom environment of language study area.The research on this topic has been increasing gradually in China in recent years,but most of the researches are about the current situation,and the studies on relationships between the classroom environment and the students’ learning outcomes are relatively few.Therefore,this study is of great significance.The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between the non-English majors’ perception of the college English classroom environment and their learning achievement and learning attitude,and to find out the problems in the college English classroom environment.It also provides some suggestions to improve the college English classroom environment,thus indirectly improving the learning outcomes of college students.The author chooses 310 non-English major students from a comprehensive university in Yan’an,Shaanxi Province as the research sample,and combinesquantitative and qualitative methods by using questionnaire survey and interview.Using the relevant statistical methods in SPSS24.0,the author collected data and analyzed it to obtain the correlation between students’ current perception of English classroom environment and students’ learning achievement and attitude towards English learning.The research results are as follows: Firstly,non-English major students have relatively good perception of English classroom environment.Secondly,there is a big difference between boys and girls in three dimensions: task orientation,students’ cooperation and students’ responsibility.Thirdly,in addition to peer relation,each factor of English classroom environment has a positive correlation with students’ academic achievement(CET-4)and each factor of English classroom environment has a positive correlation with students’ attitude towards English learning.The results of the study provide useful enlightenment for the practice of college English teaching: Firstly,college English teachers should try to encourage students to cooperate in classroom learning,and to promote students’ active participation in classroom activities;Secondly,it is good to teach students according to their gender aptitude and help them to enhance their learning motivation;Thirdly,it is necessary to improve teachers’ support to students,and teachers should innovate teaching methods and approaches to inject lasting learning vitality into students’ English learning.
