The Study On Components Of Tangut Script

Tangut script is a national writing created by Tanguts in the early 11 th century,which is used to record the Tangut language.Wenhai is an important dictionary to understand the rules of the formation of Tangut script,and it has the characteristics of Chinese rhymes such as Guangyun and Chinese characters Shuowenjiezi,according to the volume of the tones and the arrangement of rhyme.The font size of the main script is larger,and the following two lines are generally used to explain the font structure of the main script.However,there are obvious drawbacks in Wenhai for the pattern of“script to script” and “cycle interpretation”,that is,the structure and origin of some basic scripts cannot be explained.A component is a form unit with certain structural function.Both the construction and the formation are closely related to the components.Therefore,on the basis of the reasonable use of Wenhai,the thesis synthesizes the opinions of other scholars,summarizes the function and characteristics of the components,sorting the structural sequences of the components,and then tries to sum up the special pattern of Tangut script.The first chapter is the introduction,including the significance of the topic and the method of research,Tangut script and the literature review,and the summary of the relevant research.The research on the components of Tangut script is mainly reflected in the formation of scripts.From the perspective of current research,there have been a lot of achievements in the study of Tangut script,and the understanding of Tangut script has been gradually deepened and refined,but there is still room for improvement.The second chapter is about the description of Tangut script,including its definition and classification,function and characteristics.We define the component as a form unit with certain structural function.According to the different standards,components of Tangut script can be divided into direct component and indirect component,basic component and composite component,component can be script independently and component cannot.The main functions of the Tangut script components are to express meaning,hint sound and distinguish font,occasionally have the function of substitution of script.Compared with the Chinese character component,the characteristics of the Tangut script component can be summarized as the following:the component body similarity is high;cannot independently be script is more,the other is less;has multiple functions;and does not have the fixed sound and meaning information.The third chapter is the exploration and summary of the Tangut script's formation process.First of all,it is points out that the component acquires new pronunciation and meaning in the process of participating in the construction of the script,and each component of the construction can obtain the information of meaning and sound.And the reason that the component can obtain the information is attributed to the infection of meaning and sound.Secondly,it is explains that only the new meanings of the components can be externalized or manifested before the new meanings are used.Finally,it is points out that the component has the characteristic of sequence.The fourth chapter is a systematic analysis of the specific formation of individual components.From this we can see the function of a component and the change of the information in the whole series,and provide more detailed examples for the exploration and summary of chapter 3.The last part summarizes the thesis and illustrates the study result.The appendix part is about types,characteristics and causes of variants of Tangut script.
