Spatial Representations Of Subculture

There are some controversy and disagreement about the definition of subcultures and their groups,the history of academic research of subculture is also comparatively short,but it is undeniable that the subcultures and their groups have developed to a force cannot be ignored and existing in our daily life,having huge influence and embodied in different areas.Based on these backgrounds,this article gives a positive and responsible discussion and research.Subcultures exist in different forms in cities and become part of the urban landscape,and often can play a positive role in terms of the urban images and multiculturalism.Subcultural spaces exist as a carrier of its cultural form and symbolic representation,communicate with public spaces and other types of spaces.This paper discusses the relationship between subculture and space,and combines the research and reference of various subcultural forms,gives respectively and comprehensive analysis.The discrepancies between subculture and mainstream culture or different subcultures bring differences of lifestyle and value which also affected to the form and function of related spaces,give conditions and requirements to the relative design while space responses in physiological and psychological aspects.On the basis of different styles of different subcultures,this paper tries to find some commons and regularities in spatial representation.Meanwhile,the different extents of contradiction between subcultures and main culture is an important feature which could positively support the development of subcultures.However,the laissez-faire of the contradiction is likely to make the further intensification of the conflict,both for the subculture itself or the public will have a negative impact.In this context,this article also put the relationship between the subcultures and public into an important consideration.Through the theoretic research and study of subcultures' spatial representation,this paper also summarizes the main points in subcultural space design,and applies them to the specific subcultural form of skateboarding,makes the attempt of relative design work,also makes the macro and comprehensive theoretical research and results in the specific and clear perspective.
