A Practice Report On The Translation Of "Research On Characteristics Of Lubricant Film Flow And Depletion On Haed Disk Interface"

With the globalization of science and technology and economy,translation for science and technology becomes increasingly important.Therefore,most science and technology translation scholars tend to create a set of science and technology translation methods or strategies with guidance and reference significance through the examples of translation practice in a specific field,which has gradually become a hot research subject.And among the fields of science and technology,the research on mechanical design attracts much attention.This translation practice report discusses Chinese-English translation of Research on Characteristics of Lubricant Film Flow and Depletion on Head Disk Interface in mechanical design.First of all,the author introduces the origin of the source text,the background and significance of translation as well as preparation and analysis before translation.Secondly,under Catford's translation shifts,this report analyzes English translation cases,including the translation of words such as terminology,verbs and nouns and that of sentences such as active voice,passive voice and short sentences.Finally,the problems and deficiencies in English translation are demonstrated.To sum up,translation tools and techniques should be adopted in English translation for science and technology papers.And this translation should pursue the equivalence of text content rather than the correspondence of language form.
